Neonatologist – Manitoba

The Section of Neonatology is seeking to recruit an academic neonatologist to the Regional Neonatal program in this City. Independent practice of Targeted (Functional) Echocardiography or Newborn Follow-Up will be a significant asset. Applicants must possess senior specialty qualifications in Neonatology in the country of current practice, and must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Certification in Neonatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred.
The Department of Pediatrics and Child Health, University of Manitoba, comprises over 80 geographical full-time physicians representing all pediatric subspecialties. The Section of Neonatology includes two tertiary care neonatal units. The Health Sciences Centre houses an 18 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a 27 bed Intermediate Care Nursery; St. Boniface General Hospital has 30 beds in a combined Neonatal Intensive and Intermediate Care Unit. Each centre sees approximately 5,500 deliveries annually, and has a referral perimeter including Manitoba, Northwest Ontario and Nunavut. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in the new state of the art 60 bed NICU in the new Women’s Hospital at Health Sciences Centre which will open in 2014.
The Section of Neonatology offers a unique and exciting academic environment; its Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Training Program, is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and currently has 9 Fellows in training; and its close affiliation with the Manitoba Institute of Child Health. Equal emphasis is placed on clinical practice, fellowship and resident teaching, and clinical and basic research.
Qualifications
Must be eligible for registration & licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba.
